Reddit post removal service: which takedown requests Reddit grants, and how often

Whether a post exposes you, copies your work or lies about you, the outcome depends on which Reddit route it goes through, not on who files it. This page sets each route against Reddit's own transparency figures for July to December 2025, so you can see what a takedown request is likely to achieve before you pay anyone.

A Reddit post removal service files the same requests you can: a copyright notice, a privacy or impersonation report, or a legal request. Reddit decides each one against its rules or the law. Copyright notices succeed most often; defamation claims usually fail unless a rule is broken.

What does a Reddit post removal service actually file?

Requests, not removals. A reddit post removal service has no admin key; it fills in the same forms and report boxes that anyone can open, and Reddit decides each one against its rules or the law. That is true whether the listing calls itself a reddit removal service, a reddit takedown service or a reddit content takedown agency. What a good one adds is choosing the right route, building the evidence and writing the reddit takedown request so it matches what Reddit can act on.

Reddit's transparency report for the second half of 2025 shows how differently those routes perform. We set the figures against each problem below:

Reddit takedown routes and what they achieved, July to December 2025
ProblemRoute Reddit acceptsWho decidesWhat happened to these requests
Your photo, video, text or code repostedCopyright (DMCA) formReddit's legal team71% of 69,154 notices led to action; 217,787 of 425,471 items removed
Your brand name or logo misusedTrademark formReddit's legal team92% of 875 notices rejected
Your address, phone, employer or real name postedReport, "personal information" (Rule 3)Admins, often mods firstRemoved when it identifies you and you did not publish it yourself
An account posing as youReport, impersonation (Rule 5)AdminsRemoved when the account deceives; parody that says so stays
False claims about youRule report first, then a legal requestAdmins, then Reddit's legal teamOf 235 private legal requests, 27% removed, 2% blocked in one country, 71% no action
Anything else you dislikeStandard reportMods and admins6.9% of all reports ended in a removal

Two figures frame everything else. Volunteer moderators made 52.7% of all removals in that period and Reddit's admins 44.7%, so a post often comes down faster through the subreddit's mods than through Reddit itself. And only 6.9% of user reports led to a removal, which is why repeating a weak report many times changes nothing. Reddit post removal services that promise a result whatever the route are selling the 6.9%, not the 71%.

What is the best DMCA takedown service for Reddit?

The one that files a clean notice in your name and tells you about the counter-notice. Copyright is Reddit's strongest route, so the search for the best dmca takedown service reddit users recommend is mostly a search for someone who files correctly. A reddit copyright takedown needs the exact permalinks, a link to your original, a statement that you own the rights or act for the owner, and a signature. Reddit accepts it through its copyright form or by email to its registered agent.

Judge any reddit dmca takedown provider on four things:

  • Ownership. Only the rights holder or an agent can file. A service that offers to remove posts you do not own the copyright in is preparing a false notice, and false notices carry liability.
  • Counter-notices. If the poster files a counter-notice, Reddit passes the requester's details to them. In late 2025 there were 430 appeals, 34 were valid and 116 items were restored. A provider should warn you before your name reaches the poster.
  • Repeat infringers. Reddit banned 1,595 accounts and 563 subreddits as repeat infringers in the same period. A service that tracks reposts and files again is worth more than a one-off notice.
  • Price per unit. Content-protection firms that name Reddit charge from about $69 a month, and some price per username from about $139. Pay for monitoring if your work keeps reappearing, not for one link.

Copyright works the same way on video sites. People asking how to get a youtube video taken down reddit threads usually learn that a copyright or privacy claim moves YouTube, while flags do not, as our guide to the three ways a YouTube channel actually gets terminated and the test of what YouTube does with a flood of flags show. For a single picture elsewhere, the routes for removing one Instagram post follow the same copyright logic.

How do you report doxxing on Reddit?

Through the report button on the post or comment, choosing personal information, and through the subreddit's mods at the same time. Rule 3 bars revealing someone's personal or confidential information, so reddit doxxing removal is one of the faster routes when the post plainly identifies you. To report doxxing on reddit so it sticks:

  1. Copy the permalink of every post and comment that carries the information. Take dated screenshots before reporting, because removed posts vanish from view.
  2. Report each one: Report, then Sharing personal information. Use reddit.com/report if you have no account.
  3. Message the subreddit's mods through modmail with the same permalinks. They can remove within minutes.
  4. For intimate images, choose Non-consensual intimate media; Reddit works with StopNCII so copies can be matched by hash.
  5. If the post contains threats, report it to the police with your screenshots. A removal does not stop the person behind it.

Information you published yourself, such as a name in your own public profile, is harder to remove under Rule 3. That is where context helps: show that the post links the pieces together to locate you. The same evidence-first approach is set out for other apps in the guide to which Instagram button fits each kind of abuse and why Snap weighs evidence over report volume.

How does impersonation removal on Reddit work?

Report the account, not just its posts, and show who you are. Rule 5 now reads "be authentic" and bars impersonating an individual or entity in a deceptive manner. For impersonation removal reddit admins look at the username, display name, avatar, banner and bio, so report the profile itself and add a link to your real account or website. Accounts that clearly say they are parody or fan pages usually stay.

A common case is grindr impersonation reddit threads: someone builds a fake dating profile from your photos, and then the screenshots end up on Reddit. That needs two reports. On Grindr, open the profile, tap the flag, choose Report and then Impersonation; reporting does not block the profile, so block it separately. On Reddit, report the post as personal information or impersonation, depending on what it shows. If the impersonator first took over your real Instagram to borrow its followers, the steps for getting a hijacked Instagram account back come before any Reddit report, because a hijacked account keeps feeding new fakes.

Reporters often worry that the other side will see who complained. Reddit does not tell the reported user, and the same holds on Instagram, as our explainer on what Instagram reveals to the person you reported sets out.

Can you get a whole subreddit taken down?

Rarely by asking for it, and only when the community itself breaks the rules. Reddit has no subreddit takedown form. It acts on communities through the posts in them: report the posts that break the rules, and a subreddit that keeps hosting them, or has no active moderators, gets banned. In late 2025 Reddit banned 605,570 communities; 76.7% were spam, and 98.4% of the rest had no active moderation.

A subreddit harassment report has three channels:

  • Posts and comments. Report each one under harassment (Rule 1). A pattern of reports from different people about different posts is what builds a case against a community.
  • Moderators. If the mods encourage or organise harassment, use Reddit's Moderator Code of Conduct form. Reddit acted on 878 such cases in the period.
  • Ban evasion. If a banned community reappears under a new name, message the admins' ban-evasion modmail with the links; Reddit says it does not accept screenshots for this.

As for how to report a reddit account that is running the campaign: open the profile, tap the three dots, choose Report, and say whether the username, avatar, bio or posts break a rule. Suspended users can appeal within six months, so keep your evidence after the account disappears.

Does Reddit remove defamation?

Not as defamation, usually. Reddit first checks a reported post against its own rules; only if no rule applies does it treat the complaint as a legal question. Reddit defamation removal then depends on a court order or a clear legal finding, and even a valid one may only block the post in the country where the law applies. Of 235 private legal requests in late 2025, 27% led to removal, 2% to a country block and 71% to no action.

The same report counted 5 forged temporary restraining orders and 10 fraudulent government requests, including a forged UK High Court order. That is the "legal takedown" tier some sellers advertise. Reddit checks orders against court records, so a fake one fails and leaves a paper trail pointing to whoever paid for it. Meta's approach to false complaints is similar, as our look at mass reporting a Facebook account, Page or group and the breakdown of Meta's protocol for report floods show.

What works for false claims is the narrowest true route: a post that names you and adds your address breaks Rule 3; a post that harasses breaks Rule 1. Find the rule first, and keep a lawyer for the claims that only a court can settle.

Do Reddit ban sellers and mass reports work?

No, and coordinated reporting can itself break Rule 2, which covers content manipulation. Reddit's 6.9% removal rate across all reports shows that volume does not decide; the post does. Bans rose 21% to 3,181,420 accounts in late 2025, with harassment actions up 200%, but those bans followed what the accounts did. We found no priced "Reddit ban" seller in October 2026 at all, only account marketplaces and report packs for other apps.

The search habits show where buyers end up. People type whatsapp ban service reddit to find honest reviews of sellers, and what they find is threads about lost money; our audit of WhatsApp ban listings and their price tiers and why WhatsApp report bots arrive empty explain why. Threads on how to get someone banned on roblox reddit end the same way: Roblox acts on off-platform behaviour only when it can confirm it independently, so a screenshot campaign does little.

The pattern repeats on every platform we have tested: Instagram report bots and the single report that works instead, sellers who offer to mass report an Instagram account, what paid Instagram ban sellers can and cannot do and the open-source Instagram spam bots on GitHub. TikTok tells the same story in a teardown of TikTok mass report APKs and panels, the TikTok report bots aimed at LIVE streams and comments and the price list behind TikTok ban sellers.

What should you give a Reddit removal service, and what never?

Give evidence; never give access. A legitimate provider needs the permalinks, dated screenshots, a link to your original work or real profile, and your reason. It never needs your Reddit password or a fake court document, and it should refuse posts that are simply critical of you. Check these before you pay:

  1. It names the route for each link: copyright, Rule 3, Rule 5, harassment or a legal request.
  2. It files copyright notices in your name, as your agent, and tells you about counter-notices.
  3. It reports to the subreddit's mods as well as to Reddit.
  4. It quotes a price per request or per month, not a "guaranteed removal" fee.
  5. It tells you what to do when a request fails, including the six-month appeal window.

The same checks catch bad sellers on X, where our breakdown of what X counts when a report bot fires and what buyers of X report packs end up with cover the details. Telegram has its own version in what a single Telegram report really triggers and the guide to taking down a Telegram channel that breaks the rules, and spam on video comments in the comparison of a spam bot with one well-built spam report.

Questions on this matter

What does a Reddit post removal service do?
It files the same requests you can: copyright notices, personal information and impersonation reports, and legal requests. Reddit decides each one. A good service picks the right route and prepares the evidence; none can remove a post directly.
What is the best DMCA takedown service for Reddit?
One that only files for content you own, files in your name with exact permalinks, warns you that a counter-notice shares your details with the poster, and keeps watching for reposts. Copyright notices are Reddit's most successful route.
How do I report doxxing on Reddit?
Report each post or comment under sharing personal information, message the subreddit's mods with the permalinks, and keep dated screenshots. Use reddit.com/report if you have no account, and go to the police if the post includes threats.
Can I get a subreddit taken down?
Not by request. Report the posts that break the rules and, if moderators organise harassment, use Reddit's Moderator Code of Conduct form. Communities that keep hosting rule-breaking posts or have no active moderators are banned.
Does Reddit remove defamatory posts?
Only if the post also breaks a Reddit rule, or a valid court order requires it. Of 235 private legal requests in late 2025, 27% led to removal. Forged court orders are detected and refused.
Does Reddit tell someone I reported them?
No. Reddit does not tell the reported user who filed a report. Copyright is the exception: if the poster files a counter-notice, Reddit shares the requester's details with them.
